Teach Us How to Pray | Delta Church Sunbury, Ohio

Worship team leading the congregation in spoken prayer at Delta Church.

We spent the month of October in a series about prayer. At Delta Church, we want to be a place that prioritizes prayer and that when we pray, we pray like Jesus did. Here's the series recap!

  1. How Jesus prayed – Jesus didn’t just speak quietly; He prayed up to heaven, out loud with others, and even face down in reverence. His prayer life shows us that true communication with God engages our hearts, bodies, and community.

  2. What Jesus prayed – From the Lord’s Prayer to prayers of gratitude, intercession, and trust, Jesus modeled a prayer life that is simple, balanced, and powerful. Gratitude, for example, wasn’t just polite; it was a daily habit that shaped His perspective and ours. Also, the longest prayer we have from Jesus was about other people. A prayer of intercession for us.

  3. When Jesus prayed – Prayer wasn’t a one-time activity. Jesus prayed early in the morning, before meals, during stressful times, and even before miracles. It was routine, special, solitary, and social—a rhythm we can follow today.

Our goal at Delta Church in Sunbury is to see the way we pray, the words we pray, and our willingness to pray reflect Jesus’ example. Whether you’re new to prayer or looking to deepen your practice, this series offers practical tools—like the Lord’s Prayer as a simple, balanced “level” for guiding your conversation with God—and habits for everyday life.

Prayer isn’t a chore or a last resort. It’s nourishment for your soul, connection to God, and a way to impact your community.
